Pressure Washing Concrete

How to Remove Stains from Concrete

Pressure Washing Concrete

If you’re scrubbing grease and oil stains with a toothbrush and baking soda, the effort is likely exceeding the results. Rather than waging an elbow-grease muscle war on a concrete driveway, invest in a pressure washer

How to Remove Stains from Concrete

With a power washer and the right accessories, working smarter becomes an engaging task. Additionally, concrete can be made to shine cleaner than the day it was poured.

  • Use a pressure washer with a concrete detergent.
  • Use a surface cleaner to clean large areas quickly.
  • Use a turbo nozzle attachment for cleaning edges and smaller spaces.

Remove Concrete Stains Using Detergent

Apply concrete cleaner detergent, and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes while it works into the surface. Reapply soapy water to any areas that begin to dry. Once the soap has had time to settle, dirt and oils should loosen from the concrete.

The soapy grime is then rinsed away by moving in smooth, even motions to prevent streaking. Taking care not to miss any spots is essential, as gaps will be noticeable once dry. For heavily soiled areas, the spray should be moved even more slowly across the surface.

Use a Surface Cleaner to Clean Large Areas

With a surface cleaner, double the surface area can be cleaned in half the time. As the unit moves, two spinning jets of water within the housing blast away stains with double the cleaning power. The end result is a much more consistent and even clean.

Avoid Streaks with Turbo Nozzles

A turbo nozzle can decrease cleaning time by 40%. These nozzles disperse water pressure to avoid creating lines while increasing the cleaning surface area. They are specifically designed to blast through deeper grease, oil, mold, and mildew stains that might not budge otherwise.

For safety, it is important to ensure the turbo nozzle is always in motion during use and to never aim the stream toward individuals. Spraying glass garden ornaments or decorative edging should be avoided, as the pressure could cause breakage, leading to injury or property damage.
